MSU President Dr. Mark Keenum met recently in Rome with Josette Sheeran, director of the United Nations' World Food Program, the largest humanitarian organization fighting hunger around the world. Director Sheeran is pictured with a red cup used by the WFP to distribute free school meals to hungry children. The group's "Fill the Cup" campaign is raising awareness and funding to address hunger issues in developing countries and symbolizes the positive difference filling the cup could make in the life of a hungry child. Dr. Keenum and Director Sheeran talked about how Mississippi State University might have become engaged in WFP efforts worldwide. As a result, MSU and WFP officials have already begun discussions on joint initiatives.
