The Executive Council’s regular, in-person monthly meeting for September was canceled due to a lack of agenda items. However, members considered a resolution to change the University’s Senior Management Official (SMO), related to the National Industrial Security Program (NISP), via email.

The role of the Senior Management Official (SMO) has historically defaulted to the President of the University. However, given new expectations for the SMO to maintain a much higher level of management detail on the contracts and facility use, the Vice President for Research and Economic Development will now serve as SMO. The President will take on a Key Management Personnel role held by other senior MSU leaders. Council members voted to approve the resolution.

The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Executive Council is set for Monday, October 27, at 1:30 p.m. in the President’s Conference Room in Lee Hall.
