Meeting #481 - May 24, 2021
The Executive Council held its monthly meeting via Webex at 1:30 p.m. Present were Dr. Mark E. Keenum, presiding, Mr. Zac Ashmore, Dr. Jeremy Baham, Dr. Tracey Baham, Ms. Leslie Corey, Ms. Ra’Sheda Forbes, Mr. Brett Harvey, Ms. Christine Jackson, Mr. Brandon Jolly, Dr. Reuben Moore, Mr. Steve Parrott, Dr. Rebecca Robichaux-Davis, Dr. David Shaw, Mr. Don Zant and Mr. Jim Laird.
On behalf of Vice President for Student Affairs Regina Hyatt, Dr. Jeremy Baham presented OP 91.353: Required Accommodations in Programs, Activities, and Special Events on Campus. The update adds details to the policy that better explain the accommodations process and the responsibilities of departments and units. Council members voted to approve.
On behalf of Provost and Executive Vice President David Shaw, Mr. Brett Harvey presented OP 01.28: Consensual Relationships. This update and renaming of the policy (from Amorous Relationships to Consensual Relationships) aligns MSU policy addressing relationships between employees and students with that of its peers and best practices. Council members voted to approve.
On behalf of Dr. Shaw, Ms. Leslie Corey presented OP 60.225: Tuition Remission-Employees and OP 60.226 Tuition Remission-Dependent Children of Employees. The updates for each policy consist of minor edits that do not change the policies substantively. Council members voted to approve.
Ms. Corey also presented OP 60.503: Performance Appraisals. The update includes minor changes that add clarity to the policy and remove redundant language. President Keenum noted that annual performance appraisals are important and essential to MSU’s accreditation, emphasizing their importance for every employee. Council members voted to approve.
Mr. Don Zant presented OP 62.03: Investment Policy, OP 62.07: Cash Handling, and OP 95.501: Traffic and Parking Rules and Regulations. The updates for each policy consist of minor edits that do not change the policies substantively. Council members voted to approve.
