Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Executive Council held an email vote in July for one item: a proposal to name the Band and Choral Rehearsal Hall the Kent Sills Band Hall in recognition of Dr. Kent Sills and his many contributions to Mississippi State University.

Prior to its consideration by Executive Council members, the President’s Cabinet approved the request. It meets the requirements set forth in OP 41.02: Naming Opportunities at Mississippi State University.

The honorary naming proposal was presented by Vice President for Development and Alumni John Rush. Council members voted to approve. The proposal has been submitted to the Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning for consideration and approval at the September 17, 2020, board meeting.
