Executive Council met at 1:30 p.m. at Lee Hall. Present were Dr. David Shaw, presiding, Ms. Ann Carr, Dr. Timothy Chamblee, Dr. Randy Follett, Ms. RaSheda Forbes, Dr. Teresa Gammill, Ms. Shameie Haynes, Dr. Regina Hyatt, Ms. Joan Lucas, Mr. Jake Manning, Mr. Steve Parrott, Mr. John Rush, Ms. Nancy Siegert, Ms. Amy Tuck, Dr. Bob Williams, Mr. Don Zant, and Mr. Jim Laird.

Dr. Gammill presented an update of OP 70.05, Federal Property at Mississippi State University. This policy outlines the university’s procedures to protect, preserve, account for, control, and use government property in its custody. There were no major changes to the policy with this update. Council members voted to approve.

Dr. Gammill presented an update of OP 79.02, Biosafety. The changes presented expand the policy to include the use of biohazardous materials in teaching activities, in addition to the existing provisions for research activities, in order to enhance safety. Council members voted to approve.

Dr. Gammill presented an update of OP 79.03, Human Subjects in Research. The changes presented align the university’s policy with recent revisions to the federal policy for the protection of human subjects in research, generally known as the Common Rule. Council members voted to approve.

Dr. Hyatt presented an update of OP 91.306, Campus Roadways. There are no substantive changes to the policy with this update. It merely clarifies how campus roadways may be used for certain events. Council members voted to approve.
