Meeting 456 - October 24, 2016
Executive Council met at 1:30 p.m. at Lee Hall. Present were Dr. Mark Keenum, presiding, Dr. Greg Bohach, Dr. Judy Bonner, Ms. Ann Carr, Dr. Timothy Chamblee, Dr. Cody Coyne, Ms. Kathy Gelston, Ms. Tamara Gibson, Mr. Brett Harvey, Dr. Regina Hyatt, Ms. Joan Lucas, Mr. Mike Rackley, Ms. Jordan Ramsey, Ms. Roxanne Raven, Mr. John Rush, Ms. Judy Spencer, Ms. Amy Tuck, Mr. Don Zant, and Mr. Jim Laird.
Dr. Bonner and Mr. Harvey presented a revision to OP 03.03, Discrimination, Harassment and Retaliation. This policy asserts a commitment by Mississippi State to assuring that the university and its programs are free from discrimination based upon race, color, ethnicity, sex, pregnancy, religion, national origin, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, genetic information, status as a U.S. veteran, or any other status protected by state or federal law. This revision aligns the policy with current federal guidelines. The Council recommended approval.
Ms. Gelston presented a revision to OP 70.09, Financial Conflict of Interest in Sponsored Activities. This policy serves to protect the integrity and objectivity of research by setting forth acceptable parameters to relating to possible conflicts of interest that may arise from the outside professional or commercial activities of investigators. This revision aligns the policy with current federal guidelines. The Council recommended approval.
Ms. Gelston presented a revision to OP 80.03, U.S. National Industrial Security Program. This policy serves to provide the administrative and guidance information required for the operation of the National Industrial Security Program at Mississippi State, and to those university personnel who possess an MSU-sponsored U.S. government security clearance. This revision aligns the policy with current federal guidelines. The Council recommended approval.
Ms. Tuck and Dr. Hyatt presented a revision to OP 95.503, Management of Traffic and Parking. This policy delineates responsibility for the management of traffic and parking at Mississippi State. This revision clearly defines the specific role of the Parking and Traffic Regulation Committee on campus and its membership. The Council recommended approval.
