Executive Council met at 1:30 p.m. at Lee Hall. Present were Dr. Judy Bonner, presiding, Dr. Greg Bohach, Dr. Timothy Chamblee, Dr. Cody Coyne, Ms. Lesia Ervin, Ms. Tamara Gibson, Mr. Bo Hemphill, Dr. Regina Hyatt, Ms. Joan Lucas, Mr. Mike Rackley, Ms. Roxanne Raven, Mr. John Rush, Dr. David Shaw, Ms. Judy Spencer, Ms. Amy Tuck, Mr. Don Zant, and Mr. Jim Laird.

Dr. Bonner presented a revision of AOP 12.16, Academic Dismissal and Suspension. This policy establishes the conditions for interrupting the pattern of unsatisfactory performance in undergraduate students who incur grade point deficiencies, thereby increasing the likelihood of their eventual academic success. The changes modify the policy to make it more focused on encouraging student success. The Council recommended approval of the changes, pending satisfactory review by the Department of Student Financial Aid.

Dr. Bonner and Dr. Hyatt presented a minor revision of OP 31.01, Definition of a Student. This policy, previously OP 91.101, provides uniform guidelines defining a student. The Council recommended approval.

Mr. Zant presented a new policy, OP 61.06, Cost Transfer. This policy formerly sets university policy with regard to the transfer of expenditures to and from sponsored projects with every effort being made to correctly record expenditures to the appropriate sponsored projects when the original entry is made in the accounting records. It also requires documentation for why an error occurred and what steps have been taken to remedy the situation. The Council recommended approval.

Dr. Shaw presented a revision of OP 70.03, Responsible Conduct of Research. This revision provides an update that streamlines application of the policy by including exemptions for certain employees who are not required to complete Responsible Conduct of Research training. The Council recommended approval.

Dr. Hyatt presented a significant revision of OP 91.208, Hazing. This revision places Mississippi State?s policy in line with national fraternity and sorority governing policies and with peer institutions. The Student Association and Greek life leadership on campus have reviewed the policy changes. The Council recommended approval.

Dr. Hyatt presented a revision of OP 91.352, Employee Use of Automated External Defibrillators. This revision clarifies purchasing and ownership requirements for AEDs and their usage by certified university employees. The Council recommended approval.
