Executive Council met at 1:30 p.m. at Lee Hall. Present were Dr. Mark Keenum, presiding, Dr. Greg Bohach, Dr. Judy Bonner, Dr. Timothy Chamblee, Dr. Cody Coyne, Mr. Jeff Davis, Ms. Lesia Ervin, Ms. Tamara Gibson, Dr. Regina Hyatt, Mr. Brandon Jolly, Ms. Roxanne Raven, Mr. Mike Richey, Dr. David Shaw, Ms. Judy Spencer, Ms. Amy Tuck, Mr. Don Zant, and Mr. Jim Laird.

Dr. Shaw presented OP 70.07, Research Scientists. This policy establishes a consistent set of titles for full-time research personnel engaged in research scientist activities, and also establishes the promotion criteria and approval process for the positions as they relate to HRM 60-323. The Council recommended approval.

Dr. Shaw presented a revision of OP 80.02, Ethics in Research and Other Scholarly Activities. This policy sets the expectations that research and other scholarly activities carried out be Mississippi State faculty, staff, and students be characterized by the highest standards of honesty, integrity, and ethical behavior. This revision further aligns the policy with federal guidelines. The Council recommended approval.

Dr. Hyatt presented a revision of OP 91.300, Blood Procurement. This policy provides consistent guidelines to allow blood service organizations access to a safe, healthy, and large population of blood donors while protecting the donor population from excessive blood drives that curb the willingness to donate. The revision refines the procedure by which organizations register their blood drives and their scheduling. The Council recommended approval.
