Meeting 448 - November 30, 2015
Executive Council met at 2:30 p.m. at Lee Hall. Present were Dr. Mark Keenum, presiding, Dr. Julia Hodges, Dr. Greg Bohach, Dr. Regina Hyatt, Dr. David Shaw, Mr. Mike Rackley, Ms. Tamara Gibson, Mr. Joe Farris, Ms. Lesia Ervin, Dr. Tim Chamblee, Mr. John Rush, Mr. Don Zant, Mr. Brandon Jolly, Dr. Cody Coyne, Mr. Cedric Gathings, Mr. Don Zant, Ms. Leah Beasley, Mr. JoJo Dodd, and Ms. Judy Spencer.
Dr. Bohach recommended revision and expansion of HRM 60.415, Outside Employment, to be renamed HRM 60.415, Outside Employment and Consulting, and the simultaneous rescindment OP 56.02, External Employment and Consulting. The Council recommended approval.
Ms. Spencer recommended approval of a revision of HRM 60.118, Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace. The major change provides for pre-employment testing for controlled substances and alcohol misuse for safety or security sensitive positions in the university Police Department. The Council recommended approval.
Dr. Shaw recommended approval of an updated version of OP 79.02, Biosafety. The changes are primarily editorial and organizational. The Council recommended approval.
Dr. Hyatt recommended that non-faculty emeritus status be awarded to retiring Assistant Vice President for Student Services Bill Broyles, in recognition of 36 years of services in various Student Affairs positions. The Council recommended approval.
Mr. Rush presented as an information item plans to name the renovated softball-tennis facility as Nusz Park, in recognition of a gift from Tommy and Teri Nusz of Houston, Texas, as provided for in the university?s policy on gift naming opportunities. The proposed naming is subject to approval by the IHL Board of Trustees.
