Executive Council met at 1:30 p.m. at 611 Allen Hall. Present were Dr. Mark Keenum, presiding, Dr. Jerry Gilbert, Dr. Greg Bohach, Dr. Bill Kibler, Mr. Don Zant, Ms. Amy Tuck, Dr. Jerry Emison, Dr. Bill Kibler, Dr. Cade Smith, Ms. Cathy Lammons, Dr. Tommy Stevenson, Ms. Shelby Balius, Mr. Joe Farris, Ms. Joan Lucas, Ms. Lesia Bryant, Ms. Kacey Strickland, and Mr. Richard Swann.

Mr. Swann and Ms. Strickland presented for approval an updated version of OP 70.09, Financial Conflict of Interest in Sponsored Activities. The revised policy is in keeping with new rules adopted by the National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation, and other agencies to promote transparency and accountability by requiring disclosure of potential conflicts of interest in funded research projects. The policy establishes a Conflict of Interest Manager and a Conflict of Interest Review Committee to oversee implementation of the policy. The council recommended approval. The revised policy was approved by the president on July 23, 2012.

Dr. Kibler presented for approval updated versions of OP 91.113, Withdrawal and Readmission of Mentally Ill Students; OP 91.305, Management of Traffic and Parking; and OP 91.126, Electronic Communication to Students. The council recommended approval of each of the three policies, and all were approved by the president on July 23, 2012.
