Executive Council met at 1:30 p.m. at 611 Allen Hall. Present were Dr. Mark Keenum, presiding, Dr. Jerry Gilbert, Dr. Bob Williams, Dr. David Shaw, Mr. John Rush, Dr. Hart Bailey, Dr. Tommy Stevenson, Ms. Mary Vaughn, Mr. Don Zant, Mr. Bill Broyles, Mr. Rhett Hobart, Mr. Duncan McKenzie, Ms. Lesia Bryant, Mr. Joe Farris, and Ms. Joan Lucas.

Dr. Keenum presented for approval an updated version of OP 01.05, Mission Statement Review Policy. The council recommended approval. The revised policy is on line at http://www.msstate.edu/dept/audit/0105.html.

Dr. Williams presented a proposal from the Division of Agriculture, Forestry and Veterinary Medicine that the planned new office building at the Delta Research and Extension Center be named the Verner G. Hurt Research and Extension Building in honor of the MSU graduate and former MAFES director who retired in 1996. The Council recommended approval. The recommendation will be submitted to the Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning.
