Executive Council met at 1:30 p.m. at 611 Allen Hall. Present were Dr. Jerry Gilbert, presiding, Dr. Greg Bohach, Dr. Bill Kibler, Dr. Mary Alexander, Mr. Thomas Sellers, Dr. Megan Millea, Mr. Mike McGrevey, Dr. Jimmy Abraham, Mr. Sam Manning, Ms. Mary Vaughn, Mr. Joe Farris, Mr. Don Zant, Mr. Charlie Guest, and Mr. Mike Rackley.

Dr. Kibler presented for approval an updated version of OP 91.307, Policies for Traffic and Parking Rules and Regulations for the Campus and Streets of Mississippi State University. The council recommended approval.

Dr. Gilbert and Mr. Rackley presented for review a draft policy and procedure on Use of Information Technology Resources. The draft policy was developed by a campus task force in consultation with IHL staff to meet the requirements of IHL Board Policy on Digital and Electronic Copyright Infringement, and would require that all users of MSU IT resources annually acknowledge that they are aware of the provisions of the policy regarding digital and electronic copyright infringement. The policy will be considered for final approval at a future Council meeting. In conjunction with the proposed new policy, Information Technology Services would create a website and communicate with users about policy requirements.

Dr. Gilbert and Mr. Rackley presented for review a draft policy and procedure on Privacy of Electronic Information. The draft policy states that while it is the policy of the university not to routinely monitor use of university information technology resources, the university may do so when it reasonably appears necessary to protect the security or integrity of the university or its information technology infrastructure. The policy will be considered for final approval at a future Council meeting.
