Executive Council met at 1:30 p.m. in 611 Allen Hall. Present were Dr. Mark Keenum, presiding, Dr. Peter Rabideau, Dr. Mary Alexander, Blake Jeter, Dr. Kirk Schulz, Joy Odom, Mike McGrevey, Dr. Melissa Mixon, Dr. David Nagel, Bill Broyles, John Rush, Duncan McKenzie, Julie Fulgham, Don Zant, Joe Farris, Charlie Guest and Sam Manning.

Dr. Schulz presented for approval a policy and procedure statement on Building Safety Reviews. The council recommended approval.

Mr. Broyles submitted a recommendation that retiring Dean of Students Mike White be granted emeritus status. The council recommended approval. The recommendation will go to the Board of Trustees.

Mr. Rush recommended that a newly constructed lake at Starr Memorial Forest be named in honor of Dr. Dale Arner, professor emeritus of wildlife and fisheries. The council recommended approval.

Ms. Odom introduced Sam Manning, who will become chair of the Professional and Support Staff Advisory Council on July 1.

Mr. Jeter reported that The Big Event student service project during the week of Super Bulldog Weekend attracted 55 teams comprising about 500 students who completed more than 45 tasks suggested by city officials. More than 7,000 attended the Saturday night concert at the Amphitheater.

Mr. Rush reported that private fundraising for the year to date is 11 percent ahead of the prior year.
