Executive Council met at 1:30 p.m. in 611 Allen Hall. Present were Dr. Peter Rabideau, presiding, John Rush, Dr. Bill Kibler, Dr. Mary Alexander, Braxton Coombs, Dr. Kirk Schulz, Joy Odom, Wayne Bland, Duncan McKenzie, Dr. Lynn Reinschmeidt, Dr. David Nagel, Charles Guest, Julie Fulgham, Don Zant, and Joe Farris.

Dr. Rabideau reported on the previous week's meeting of the Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning, noting approval of new academic programs including the B.A. in Criminology, B.S. in Veterinary Medical Technology, and Ph.D. in Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, and other changes in academic programs.

Dr. Rabideau presented for consideration a proposal to name the theater in McComas Hall for a former faculty member in recognition of service to the university. The council noted the potential of the theater as a gift-based naming opportunity and did not recommend the proposed naming, but suggested that alternative naming proposals associated with a different location should be considered.
