Executive Council met at 611 Allen Hall at 11 a.m. Present were Dr. Charles Lee, presiding, Dr. Peter Rabideau, Dr. Colin Scanes, Dr. Mark Goodman, Dennis Prescott, Dr. William Kibler, Jon David Cole, Dr. Vance Watson, Ray Hayes, Joe Farris, Don Zant, Dr. Melvin Ray and Charles Guest.

Mr. Zant presented for first reading a proposed revision of Operating Policy 01.01, Policy on Policies.

Mr. Zant presented for first reading a proposed policy on Internal Audit Services, OP 04.01.

Dr. Rabideau presented for first reading a proposed revision of Academic Operating Policy 10.08, Classroom Regulations. The revision would add controls on the use of cell phones and other devices in classrooms.

Dr. Rabideau presented for first reading a proposed revision of AOP 12.11, Degree Requirements - Undergraduate. The revision would reduce the required number of student credit hours in core courses in keeping with a recently adopted IHL policy capping the number of credit hours that may be required for most degree programs, and would limit to 25 percent the proportion of total credits for a degree that may be earned through alternative means, such as advanced standing examinations.

Dr. Rabideau presented for first reading a proposed revision of OP 01.21, Post-Tenure Review. The revision would accommodate an IHL requirement that such policies include reference to termination procedures.

Dr. Rabideau presented for first reading a proposed revision of OP 30.02, Use of Copyrighted Computer Software. The revision would give the director of Procurement and Contracts greater responsibility for filing required license agreements.

Dr. Rabideau presented for first reading a proposed revision of OP 30.03, Management of Copyrighted Site Licensed Computer Software at Mississippi State University. The revision reflects changes in university organization since the policy was adopted in 1987.
