Executive Council met in special session to review the budget planning process with Dr. Charles Lee presiding. Also present were Dr. George Verrall, Dr. Vance Watson, Larry Templeton, Gaddis Hunt, Cedric Henson, Parker Wiseman, Dr. Jonathan Pote, Dr. Dan Embree, Dr. Jimmy Abraham, Daniel Bryant, John Tomlinson, Charles Guest, Joe Farris and Julie Fulgham.

Dr. Lee and Mr. Bryant reviewed the status of the budget building process for FY 2002-2003. The university will need to reduce current expenditures by an additional $1.45 million to balance the FY 2003 budget.

Mr. Bryant distributed a proposed cash handling policy and procedure to be considered at a future meeting.

Mr. Wiseman distributed an analysis of fall and spring academic calendars at MSU, University of Mississippi, and University of Southern Mississippi, including a report on practices related to a fall break for students.
