Also present were Dennis Prescott, Cedric Henson, Dr. Jimmy Abraham, Larry Templeton, Dr. Charles Lee, Gaddis Hunt, Sebron Harrison, Dr. Dan Embree, Dr. Jonathan Pote, Daniel Bryant, Charles Guest, Paula Jernigan, Joe Farris, Julie Fulgham, Ann Bell, Dr. Eddie Keith, Therese Hanna, Ron Hartley, and Bruce Woods.
Ron Hartley of Dale & Associates architects presented the proposed exterior color scheme for the new Landscape Architecture building. The proposed brick would complement nearby Thompson Hall. Accent colors would be muted. The roof would be metallic green. The color scheme, previously endorsed by the Landscape Architecture department, was recommended for approval.
Bruce Woods of JH&H architects presented schematic design plans for a proposed $15 million renovation of Colvard Union. The proposed changes would create new entries on the north and south sides of the building with atriums connecting all three floors, provide an expanded food court and additional office space and meeting rooms for student organizations, and modify the building exterior to give it a less "contemporary" appearance. The council recommended approval of the schematic designs. Construction funding is not available at this time.
Therese Hanna, insurance administrator for the State of Mississippi, made a presentation on the current status of the state employees health insurance plan and the outlook for future benefits and premiums.
Charles Guest recommended a revision in Operating Policy 06.03, "Trademark Licensing," to remove a reference to the specific percentage of net sales that constitutes the royalty rate on products licensed by the university. The specific rate would be modified as necessary by the Licensing and Royalty Committee. The council recommended approval.
Dr. Jimmy Abraham recommended revisions in Student Affairs policies OP 91.100, "Code of Student Conduct"; OP 91.140, "Determination of Residence Hall Visitations"; OP 91.141, "Guests of Residents in Residence Halls"; OP 91.142, "Designation of Residence Hall Restroom Facilities for Guests of Opposite Gender"; and OP 91.144, "Check-in and Check-out Regulations in University Residence Halls." The council recommended approval of the changes. Upon final approval, revised policies are posted at http://www.msstate.edu/dept/audit/.
The meeting adjourned at 11:50 a.m.
