Executive Council met at 11 a.m. at 611 Allen Hall. Present were Dr. Malcolm Portera, presiding, Dr. Roy Ruby, Dr. Rodney Foil, Dr. Bob Altenkirch, Dr. Euel Coats, Dr. David Cole, Ms. Susan Everett, Ms. Leah Norman, Dr. Melvin Ray, Joe Farris, Charles Guest, Dr. Roy Ikenberry, Mike White, John McRae, and architects Steve Davis and Charles Barlow.

Mr. Barlow presented schematic designs for the academic building being renovated for the fifth-year program of the School of Architecture on Capitol Street in Jackson. Mr. Davis presented schematic designs for the student apartment building to be constructed next door to the academic building. Schematic designs for both projects were approved. The project is expected to be complete during summer 2000.

Dr. Ruby requested that consideration of a revised policy on parking fines be deferred for a week.

Ms. Norman and Mr. Guest reviewed the objectives of the planned study of the university compensation system. Executive Council will hear a further presentation on the plan and discuss objectives of the study in a meeting to be scheduled.
