Executive Council met at 11 a.m. at 611 Allen Hall. Present were Dr. Malcolm Portera, presiding, Dr. David Cole, Dr. Euel Coats, Brad Sweet, Dr. Roy Ruby, Larry Templeton, Dr. Rodney Foil, Joe Farris, Dr. Jonathan Pote, Bill Broyles, Wayne Reed, Charles Guest, Dr. Don Downer, Dr. Debbie Baker, and Dr. John Boyle.

Dr. Cole requested that council members study a recent memorandum from Dr. Altenkirch on the proposed reorganization of the Graduate School.

Dr. Cole introduced Dr. Downer and Dr. Boyle, who presented a report on the history of university students' participation and success in taking the Medical College Admissions Test. A three-credit, pass-fail course focusing on review for the MCAT exam will be introduced during spring semester.

Dr. Ruby presented for initial review a proposed operating policy that would specify the required documentation in order for a student to qualify for special services or accommodations on the basis of a learning disorder. Dr. Ruby will consult with the Faculty Senate and Student Association on the proposed policy.

Dr. Pote presented for initial review a proposed policy and procedure on securing and paying for independent contractors. The policy will be reviewed by the Faculty Senate.

Dr. Pote reported that contracts and grants for October totaled $9.8 million, bringing the year-to-date total to $29 million.

Mr. Templeton reported that an agreement has been signed with a firm that will market expanded football stadium seating arrangements.
