Executive Council met at 9 a.m. at 611 Allen Hall. Present were Dr. Donald Zacharias, presiding, Dr. Billy Ward, Dr. Rodney Foil, Dr. Roy Ruby, Ms. Leah Norman, Dr. Leslie Bauman, Ms. Patsy Douglas, Mike Richardson, Charles Guest, Dr. George Rent, Joe Farris, Dr. Clay Taylor, Dr. R.D. Ikenberry, and Larry Templeton.

Dr. Ruby recommended approval in concept for the addition of a wooden fence around the area behind the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity house to enclose the basketball court and area for outside events. The project would be funded by the chapter. The council recommended approval and referred the project to the Campus Planning and Development Committee.

Ms. Norman reported that a state auditor's equipment inventory audit of the Forest and Wildlife Research Center found that all items were accounted for on first inspection. The office of the state auditor was highly complimentary.

Dr. Rent announced that Dr. David Moffett will retire as dean of the Meridian Campus on June 30. A search committee to identify a successor is being assembled.

Dr. Foil reported that the new horticulture greenhouses behind Dorman Hall are ready for final inspection and are to be occupied in December. Demolition of the old greenhouses near Hand Chemical Lab is planned for January.

Dr. Ruby reported that Student Financial Aid and Scholarships has relocated to renovated Garner Hall. Construction of the Sanderson Center is expected to be complete by the end of January.

Dr. Zacharias reported that a bequest from the Bridgeforth family will fund scholarships for students in the University Honors Program. Dr. Zacharias also reported a $55,000 gift from Chevron.
