Executive Council met at 9 a.m. in 611 Allen Hall. Present were Dr. Donald Zacharias, presiding, Dr. Rodney Foil, Dr. Roy Ruby, Mike Richardson, Larry Templeton, Gaddis Hunt, Dr. Leslie Bauman, Dr. George Rent, Joe Farris, Dr. R. D. Ikenberry and Charles Guest.

Dr. Zacharias reported on the previous week's meeting with representatives of Baldwin Piano Company, which is interested in establishing a working relationship with the university. Dr. Larry Brown, head of industrial engineering, will be asked to coordinate the effort for the university.

Mr. Farris presented a quarterly summary of media coverage of state universities in The Clarion-Ledger.

Dr. Ikenberry distributed a Faculty Activity Report form being sent by IHL to institutional research officers for use on each campus in collection of data. The Faculty Senate will review and comment on the form. President Zacharias suggested that the form be identified as an IHL instrument.

Dr. Ruby reported that the renovated Garner Hall will be occupied during November and December. The Sanderson Center is expected to open in February or March.

The status of the IHL review and planned update of Board of Trustees policies was discussed. Revisions are expected to be on the November board agenda for initial review, with final action possible in January. Dr. Foil and Dr. Bauman reported that faculty groups want to make suggestions concerning several proposed changes. Mr. Guest suggested that any comments on the proposals should be submitted as soon as possible.

Dr. Ruby reported on a successful recruiting event at Picayune High School.

Mr. Templeton reported that the NCAA certification review team would be on campus during the week.
