Presidential Spotlight - Crossing the Sun

Surrounded by other MSU staff members, President Keenum bends to look through a telescope at the transit of Mercury.

Crossing the Sun

MSU President Mark E. Keenum experienced the rare phenomenon of the Mercury transit Nov. 11, alongside physics faculty and students, as the planet passed directly in front of the sun, making it visible through telescopes with solar filters. The last Mercury transit was in 2016 and the next isn’t until 2032.
