Mississippi State University President Mark E. Keenum presents Frank Williams, a noted historian and former Rhode Island Supreme Court Chief Justice, with an honorary Doctor of Public Service degree during MSU’s spring 2018 commencement ceremonies. Williams served as the graduation speaker for all three ceremonies in early May. Williams is the longtime president of the Ulysses S. Grant Association and last year, along with his wife Virginia, donated his extensive collection of Abraham Lincoln materials to MSU. He has played a key role in making MSU one of the nation’s leading centers of study on the American Civil War.
