Dear Colleagues and Students,
Since July 4, a scheduled university holiday, falls on a Thursday this year, we have the opportunity to realize significant energy savings and simultaneously grant our faculty and staff an extended holiday weekend by closing on Friday, July 5.
Additionally, Governor Phil Bryant has issued a proclamation authorizing all state agencies to close their offices on July 5 this year. Therefore, university offices will be closed on Friday, July 5, in addition to Thursday, July 4. Established policies and procedures related to work on a holiday, if required, will apply.
I hope this break will give you an opportunity for rest and recreation and also a bit of reflection on Independence Day and our national legacy of freedom. My family and I wish you a safe and happy Fourth of July holiday weekend.
